The moment Jesus called Peter the fisherman
To
follow him

Peter and his friends had been fishing all night and had not caught anything. Peter was hungry, tired and fed up. He said to his friends, “We cannot afford to have many more nights like last night, when we catch nothing. If we do, we will all go hungry.”
Nearby Jesus had been speaking to the crowds and saying, “Repent the kingdom of God is here.”
Jesus saw that Peter and his friends were frustrated because they had not caught a single fish all night. Jesus walked to Peter and said, “Go back into your boats and throw the nets again into the sea.”
Peter angrily replied, “Sir, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so - we will go back into our boats and throw the nets where you say so.”
Reluctantly, Peter and his friends got back into the boats and muttered amongst themselves, “It is impossible to catch fish when it is day light”
As instructed by Jesus, Peter and his friends got into their boats and again threw the nets into the sea. They were shocked to find their nets filled with fish. The nets were about to break because there were so many fish in them. They had to call the boats nearby to help them.
They all arrived back at the shore. Peter was at amazed at the miracle that had taken place. He fell on his knees before Jesus and said, “Lord, I am a sinful man, Please go away from me.”
Jesus looked at Peter and said, “Peter follow me. From now on you will be catching men for God”. At once, Peter left his boat and nets and followed Jesus. He believed in Jesus.
He believed that Jesus would look after him and provide for him and his family. Peter had witnessed a miracle with his own eyes.
Jesus met Peter at the point of his need. We can also ask Jesus to meet us at the point of our need. Jesus knows the future. It is in his hands.
(This story as it is written in the Bible is found in Luke Chapter 5 Verses 1-11).

Prayer
Dear Jesus
Please meet me
I come to you
At the point of my need
Just as you met Peter at the
Point of his need
Amen
